"After my daughter started riding lessons, she was identified with ADD.  Focusing has always been difficult for her.  Well, she can't ride a horse unless she is totally focused.  The horse will simply wander off as her thoughts do. Talk about instant feedback!  Horseback riding is a great way for her to have fun, make friends and practice staying in the moment.  We hope that what she learns in the barn will carry over into the classroom back at school." -Chris

"My son is diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.  He has been taking lessons with Lynn Edgington for two years now and it is a joy to see how he has grown.  Lynn has not only worked on his riding skills but has allowed him to be a helper at the barn in the past two summers.  The close contact with the horses and the people there have provided him with a sense of purpose and confidence he carries with him every day."  -Sandy

“Bekah has had Lynn as her instructor over 5 years.  This experience has been very rewarding in helping Bekah to grow in confidence, balance and further grow in her love for horses/animals.  Her time at the barn has given Bekah tools in knowing how to care for horses and the importance of respecting the well-being of the horse .  The instruction is incredibly encouraging (they will point out what to fix but also share something good that the rider has done).  The use of analogies during instruction is very helpful to let the riders gain a better understanding of what is being taught (i.e. make your ankles like springs)  Lynn gives the skill sets to love and care for horses and to become great riders.” -Karen

Learning to braid….it’s going to take some practice!

“My Daughter is by nature a shy girl. Going to kindergarten was a big deal and witnessing an accident caused her to retreat dramatically. She was exhibiting signs of post-traumatic stress syndrome which would cause anxiety in her little mind. She wouldn’t let me out of her sight for even the briefest moment without inducing panic. Her first few lessons were with me by her side as leaving her wasn’t an option. With Lynn and Russ helping and not giving up on communicating, eventually she would not only look them in the eye, but respond. Lynn is extremely sensitive to the needs of the rider both physically and emotionally. It has been almost two years now and she is now on her way to becoming an accomplished rider, but has developed self-confidence and a sense of security. Lynn’s focus on safety is very much appreciated and unfortunately all too often overlooked by some in their vest for accomplishment.

My daughter will now skip into the barn to check out which horse she will ride, and has become quite the chatterbox and will engage in conversation with eager giggles and laughs. I am confident her helpful, caring instructors have done more than teach her how to ride!   -name withheld
